Johnny and Natalie’s Pre-Wedding

For Johnny and Natalie’s Pre-Wedding Photoshoot, we met up at Burradon Pond. It is their wedding on Saturday and, despite the restrictions, I’m sure it will be a fantastic day. The are getting married at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Burradon and we have most of the afternoon to take some wonderful images.

The two questions I get asked the most about Pre-Wedding Shoots are a) what to wear and b) where to go. The first is quite easy, it’s up to you, but I would suggest either dress if you were a guest at friend’s wedding, going for a nice Sunday lunch with family or wrapped up against the elements in your best coat and scarf. A lot depends on the weather and time of year.

As far as locations are concerned, I believe any of the following 5 can work for you:-

1. City Centre

If you live in Gateshead or Newcastle, like I do then the Quayside is a popular location for photoshoots.

The Bridges, The River Tyne, The Baltic Modern Art Gallery and The Sage all make great backdrops to identify where you are and where you consider home.

Sunderland, Durham and Middlesbrough each have their own landmarks and identities.

2. The Beach

We are fortunate that the North East Coast is stunning and with over 100 miles of coastline to choose from it is difficult to go wrong.

The quieter beaches such as Embleton and Druridge are preferred to give the impression that it is just you two in your own world without the distraction of other people, they shout Romance.

3. A Wood or Forest

Whether the shoot contains autumn leaves or spring bluebells, the opportunity to shoot with dappled light and long paths is a must.

A simple shot of a couple holding hands and smiling whilst walking through a forest is an image that will be treasured forever.

4. Open Countryside

In the song Fields of Gold, I used to think that Sting sung about the Fields of Bali, as in Bali Indonesia, then I realised he was talking about Barley.

Farmer’s rights permitting, photographers and couples love images where they are waist deep in vegetation.

5. Under Cover

There should aways be a Plan B, so that on really rainy days we can go somewhere that is sheltered.

These could be indoors or just under shelter on the leeward side of the storm.

The light is often diffused in these situations, which compliments our faces and softens out our wrinkles.

I hope the above has given you food for thought. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting us.

Thanks,

Laurence
