Wedding Photography and COVID-19
Just a few notes, considerations and thoughts on Wedding Photography during this difficult time.
As I am sure you know, there is still a lot of uncertainty about a) Postponements, b) Cancellations, c) Venues, d) Registrars and e) Nobody really has any answers at the time of writing. I am liaising with all my couples who are due to get married in March, April and June, and will be contacting those who are getting married later over the course of the next few weeks.
I am very confident that “Laurence Sweeney Photography” will still be here in the long term as we are a sound business with good reserves. I feel that the number of Wedding Photographers overall will reduce given impact on cashflow and challenges ahead. There are very good reasons why we only shoot 30 weddings per year, and I do feel sorry for those who are in the numbers game. That said, I know we will be there to support our fellow photographers as well. We much prefer the collaborative and supportive approach rather than be super competitive.
For Photographers, like ourselves, we often lose opportunities because some couples deem us to be too expensive. The simple response is that we are one of the best and that’s what couples want, however it is true that our costs are high and this is due to a number of reasons. For example, we are members of The Guild of Photographers, The Federation of Small Businesses, The Wedding Guide UK, Bridebook and Unison. We are fully insured including Public Liability Insurance. We have full back up equipment. We subscribe to the best online suppliers and buy materials and products from the best Photo Labs.
We are also members of Photography buddy groups, so, as I alluded to above, if the worst happens then we have a great collection of colleagues and friends to call upon.
